This pet transport FAQ page explains what you need to know. Quick answers to the questions we hear most about pet transport from customers and drivers.
For customers
Is FurShipper a transport company?
FurShipper is a marketplace. Independent, verified drivers do the transporting, and you choose which driver to book.
What does it cost to post a trip?
Nothing. Posting and receiving bids is free. You pay a booking fee only when you accept a bid and book.
What is the booking fee?
A flat fee paid to FurShipper, based on trip distance (from $34.99 for trips up to 100 miles). You pay the driver’s fee separately, directly to them. See Pricing and Fees.
When do I pay the driver?
Directly to the driver, at pickup. Please don’t pay in advance.
Which animals can I transport?
Dogs, cats, horses and other pets. Puppies and kittens must be older than 8 weeks.
Do I need a health certificate?
It depends on your pet, route and state. You are responsible for meeting health, vaccination and permit rules. Ask your veterinarian.
How do I know a driver is legitimate?
Drivers must have a verified ID or license, verified insurance and a registered vehicle before they can bid. You can also read their ratings and reviews.
What are the PINs?
Two private codes you receive after booking. The pickup PIN goes to your driver at pickup and the delivery PIN to the person receiving your pet. Drivers enter them in the app to confirm each handoff.
Can I track my pet?
Yes. You see status updates, photos at pickup and delivery, and the driver’s location while the trip is under way.
What if I need to cancel?
You can cancel before pickup. Depending on timing you get a cash refund, a credit or no refund. See the Refund Policy.
What if my driver cancels?
You’re refunded in full automatically and your listing reopens for new bids.
Can I book without an account?
You can start your trip as a guest, but you’ll create an account to complete it, track it and message your driver.
For drivers
How do I become a driver?
Register as a driver, upload your ID or license and proof of insurance, add a vehicle, and accept the Driver Agreement. Our team reviews your documents.
How much does membership cost?
$29.99 per month, or $24.99 per month equivalent on the annual plan. New drivers can start with a free trial.
Does FurShipper take a commission?
No. You keep your full trip fee, paid directly by the customer.
Why can’t I bid?
Check that your account is approved, your ID and insurance are verified and not expired, you have a vehicle, and your membership is active. Your dashboard shows the reason.
What happens if I cancel?
The customer is refunded and the listing reopens. Cancelling 3 bookings within 30 days pauses bidding until our team restores it.
